Long weekends are restorative

Long weekend in London and it finally hits me that I don't have a boyfriend/love of my life anymore. D and I broke up about 8 weeks ago but until this weekend I don't believe I have really dealt with it on an emotional level, I have a masters degree in denial. In fact numb but functioning was a good description of me over the past few weeks.

For some reason the storm decided to break this weekend, possibly because I have decided to embrace the digital age and go online in the search for love and if I am honest it fills me with horror. I mean really how bad have things got if I have to go public in search of a suitable partner, but I have do something to jump back on the horse. That said it was about time I had a proper bout of weeping and feeling sorry for myself. I don't believe my coping/stiff upper lip behavior is that healthy in the long term. I really did need to put a stop to it all the crap by having a proper cry. I tell you right now I feel fantastic, I even managed to get through my backlog of unanswered emails.

So to my intended point. When a I am dealing with things emotional I tend to shop or cook. Shopping yesterday was a trip to Ikea for retail therapy (before you pass judgement its cheaper than Kings Road, Chelsea, I was aware of my emotional state enough to decide on a shopping trip as far away from third world debt crippling Christian Lamboutin shoes as I could manage). So an excursion with my friend Suzanne to Wembley Ikea was just the thing. This of course is miles away from my local Ikea being in North West London and I live in South West London but tube travel and Sunday papers is healing in a monotonous sort of way.

My big purchase was a replacement to my ratty horrible olive green sofa cover (see photos) and some picture frames that were promptly filled with wallpaper samples (not being artistic I resort to art by cunning, besides when I get bored I can change design). Now all I have to do is ask my nice next door neighbour to drill some holes in the wall so I can hang them.

Healing partially complete I then started on cooking brownies, this is a constant quest in the search for the best brownie recipe ever. This recipe made lovely brownies but it is still not that winning gooey formula I am searching for. But its still very delicious ... and fattening... the results will be given to my work mates tomorrow.

right well I admit that the cover is not a perfect fit or the height of style but you should have seen the other one

hey the newly discovered and now polished wood floors look good! and the framed wall paper not too shabby either!
